Following last week’s DC Zoning Commission vote in favor of the development of Block 7, we wanted to provide more details regarding the future of RIA. MidCity will follow the principle of “build first” meaning that no residents will be displaced.

First Phase:

The first phase includes two buildings: a 200-unit senior building for residents 62 and over (and qualified aids) and a 131-unit multifamily building. Both of these building will be four-story, elevator buildings with underground parking, indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, controlled access with key fobs and security cameras and new and modern fixtures and finishes.

Open Space and Amenities:

Just outside of Block 7, we plan to bring a full-service grocery store, a variety of new shops, restaurants and neighborhood services for the surrounding community.

In addition, we are planning for a large community green and a pedestrian plaza that will enhance the sense of community for RIA and the surrounding neighborhood. RIA will also include a highly connective street grid that includes the introduction of multiple new streets. This green space and plaza will be designed to feature events such as weekly farmers and craft markets and will include a welcoming and safe space for children.

The units themselves will be modern and thoughtfully designed apartments and townhomes which will include ample amenities such as green roofs, grilling stations, pools, game rooms and more.
